Problem: Your Nissan Xtrail T30 (years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) is shaking violently at low revs when you put it in drive. Basically the whole dashboard shakes when you go to take off. It’s not as noticably in reverse. The vibration goes away at higher revs.

Cause: Have you been driving through deep sand along a beach and bottoming the xtrail out a little? Maybe you got bogged down to the axle on a sandy beach or in mud. What happens is the engine mount is oil filled. When the mount gets old or is put under stress the oil leaks out. When you drive through sand the mount get filled up and the vibrations from the engine go straight from the engine through to the chassis and up to vibrate your dash.

Solution: Your rear engine mount may need replacing. Replace your rear engine mount. If you look at the mount it will appear ok. Mine had a very fine crack in it which couldn’t be diagnosed just by looking at it.

Where to Buy a New Engine Mount:
I purchased a new oil filled mount for $47 posted.

This is the cheapest mount I could find. The quality is good and as expected the vibrations went away once installed.

This picture shows the cracked nissan xtrail rear engine mount. It is almost impossible to see but there is a fine crack to the right of the mount. (The gaping hole in the mount is where I cut it open to see what the problem was.)
